杀人狂魔“沉睡杀手”被判死刑 20余年间杀害25名女子

洛杉矶县陪审团6日决定，残忍杀害多名非洲裔女子的“沉睡杀手”（Grim Sleeper）小富兰克林（Lonnie Franklin Jr.）应该被处以死刑。小富兰克林上个月被定罪，在1985至2007年犯下10起谋杀罪，不过检方认为，小富兰克林实际上杀害的人数高达25人。但为了避免案件审讯被进一步拖延，检方并没有继续纠缠，根据已经定罪的10起谋杀，将杀人狂魔成功处以极刑。

小富兰克林之所以被称为是“沉睡杀手”，是因为警方认为他在1988年至2002年长达14年的时间里停止犯案。但检方认为他其实从未“沉睡”，在量刑过程中，检方又提出5起谋杀案，其中一名受害人死于2000年，不过为了避免案件审讯被拖延，检方并没有以这几起谋杀案对小富兰克林提起诉讼。

被他杀害的受害人都为非洲裔女子，大多为瘾君子或妓女。小富兰克林将受害人杀害后，通常弃尸路边或垃圾桶中。在上世纪80年代中后期，洛杉矶地区同时存在几个连环杀手，因此小富兰克林迷惑了警方。这些受害人也没有被联系到一起。虽然警方怀疑可能存在一个专门对非洲裔女子下手的连环杀手，但并未向社会公布。这也使得在“沉睡杀手”案曝光后，公众极为愤怒，把小富兰克林可以长久犯案归罪于警方的冷漠。

在多年追查凶手下落过程中，洛县县委曾悬赏50万元征集线索。2010年7月，警方通过对加州囚犯进行家族DNA比对，发现小富兰克林儿子的DNA与“沉睡杀手”接近，之后又从小富兰克林吃剩的披萨中采集到DNA样本，进而判定他就是凶手，最终将其逮捕。
